Work and studies
PART 1
🎓 Teenager Version (Topic: School & Studies)
💬 Intro (Band 7 & 8 both suitable):
Hi, my name’s Alina. I’m a high school student right now, and I’d say I spend most of my day either studying or hanging out with friends after class. I actually enjoy talking about school, so yeah, let’s go!
1. What subjects do you enjoy studying the most?
Band 7:
I really enjoy English because it lets me express myself in creative ways. I like reading stories and learning new words. It feels more like fun than study, to be honest.
Band 8:
I’ve always been drawn to English because it gives me the freedom to express ideas and emotions. I love analyzing poems and short stories, and even writing my own pieces sometimes. It’s not just about marks — it’s something that really inspires me.
2. Do you prefer studying alone or with friends?
Band 7:
I usually prefer studying alone because I can focus better that way. But sometimes, if I’m preparing for exams, I like to study with friends to discuss doubts.
Band 8:
I mostly study alone because I get easily distracted when I’m in a group. But when it comes to revising big topics, I actually enjoy studying with friends — we quiz each other, and it makes the whole process less stressful and more fun.
3. What kind of school do you go to?
Band 7:
I study in a private school that focuses a lot on academics and discipline. The teachers are quite supportive, and we have some fun events too.
Band 8:
I go to a private school that’s quite competitive, but the teachers really care about our growth. It’s not just about grades — they encourage us to take part in debates, volunteering, and leadership programs, which I think really helps us grow as people.
4. How do you get to school every day?
Band 7:
I usually go by school bus. It’s quite convenient because it picks me up from near my house. I listen to music on the way, so the ride’s not boring.
Band 8:
I take the school bus every morning since my parents are busy with work. The journey takes about half an hour, and it’s actually one of my favorite times of the day — I listen to music, chat with friends, and sometimes go over my notes before class.
5. What’s your favorite thing about your school?
Band 7:
I love how friendly the teachers are. They’re always ready to help if we don’t understand something. And our school has lots of activities, which keeps it exciting.
Band 8:
What I love most about my school is the atmosphere — everyone’s quite encouraging, and there’s always something happening, whether it’s cultural programs or competitions. The teachers genuinely motivate us to do our best, and I feel proud to be part of it.
6. Do you think your school helps you prepare for the future?
Band 7:
Yes, definitely. Our teachers guide us about careers and help us build confidence. We also have sessions on communication and teamwork.
Band 8:
Absolutely. My school focuses not just on academics but also on personal development. We get to work on projects, learn about career options, and develop soft skills like leadership and time management — things I know will matter later in life.
7. How do you feel about homework?
Band 7:
Honestly, I don’t like it much, but I know it’s important. It helps me revise what I learned in class, even if it’s a bit tiring sometimes.
Band 8:
I can’t say I love homework, but I understand its value. It gives me a chance to practice what we’ve learned and spot areas I’m weak in. Still, I wish teachers gave us more creative assignments instead of repetitive ones.
8. What would you like to change about your school?
Band 7:
I wish we had fewer tests and more fun activities. Sometimes it gets too stressful with all the exams.
Band 8:
If I could change something, I’d definitely reduce the number of tests. I think students should get more project-based learning and real-life experiences instead of constant exams. That would make school more enjoyable and meaningful.

Band 7:
I work as an administrative assistant. My main job is handling emails, scheduling meetings, and organizing files. It’s a bit hectic, but I like staying organized.

Band 7:
I’ve always been good at organizing and multitasking, so this job suits me well. I like helping people and keeping things in order.

Maybe yes, in a few years. I’d like to move to a higher position where I can manage a small team.
