IELTS Speaking Part 1 –
Beginner Instructions
This part is the first section of the speaking test.
The examiner will ask you questions about yourself and your daily life.
Questions are usually about familiar topics, like home, family, hobbies, or school.
Answer naturally – speak as if you are talking to a friend.
Keep your answers short but clear – one or two sentences is enough, but add a little detail if you can.
You don’t need to memorize answers, but practice speaking about common topics.
Speak slowly and clearly so the examiner can understand you easily.
It’s okay to pause to think – do not worry if you need a moment.
Avoid yes/no answers only – try to explain or give examples.
Smile and be polite – the examiner wants to hear your English, not just test answers.
