Band 7 Answer
Plastic waste is a serious problem in my city. I see plastic bags, bottles, and wrappers everywhere, especially in parks and streets. It makes the environment look dirty and polluted. Plastic is harmful because it takes a very long time to decompose. Animals sometimes eat plastic by mistake, which is dangerous and sad. People also burn plastic, and it creates bad smell and harmful smoke. I think this problem happens because many people are not careful about disposing of plastic properly. To reduce plastic waste, we should use reusable bags and bottles and recycle whenever possible. I believe if everyone takes responsibility, the environment can become cleaner and safer.
Band 8 Answer
Plastic waste has become a major environmental issue in many cities, including mine. Every day, I notice discarded plastic bags, bottles, and packaging in public places, which makes the surroundings look polluted and unpleasant. Plastic is particularly harmful because it takes hundreds of years to decompose, causing long-term damage to soil and water. Wildlife is affected too, as many animals mistake plastic for food, which can be fatal and distressing. Additionally, improper disposal of plastic, such as burning it, releases toxic fumes that are dangerous for humans and the environment. I believe the root cause of this problem is the overuse of single-use plastics and the lack of awareness about recycling. To tackle this, we should promote the use of eco-friendly alternatives, like reusable bags and metal bottles, and educate people on proper waste management. Community initiatives, such as cleaning drives and recycling programs, can also make a big difference. Reducing plastic waste is essential for protecting the environment and creating a sustainable and safe future.
