IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Instructions

• You will have 1 minute to think and make notes on the topic.

• The examiner will give you paper and a pencil for note-making.

• Then, you must speak continuously for 1–2 minutes on the topic.

• Usually, this is around 10–12 sentences spoken naturally..

I remember being praised by my teacher last year for completing a difficult project on time. She told me that my work was well-organized and creative, which made me feel very happy and proud. I had worked hard for several days, so her praise felt encouraging and motivating. After that, I felt more confident in my abilities and wanted to continue doing good work. My parents also appreciated my effort, which added to my happiness and satisfaction. Being praised made me realize that hard work and dedication really pay off. It was a simple moment, but it had a positive effect on me for a long time.

Band 8 Answer

A memorable time when I was praised was during a school competition for a science project. My teacher complimented my work for being thorough, innovative, and well-presented. She highlighted not only the final result but also the effort and creativity I put into the project. I felt a strong sense of achievement and pride, and it motivated me to keep improving my skills. My classmates also gave me positive feedback, which created a very supportive and encouraging environment. Even my parents were impressed and told me they were proud and inspired by my performance. Being praised on that occasion made me understand the value of hard work, consistency, and creativity. It also encouraged me to help others and share my knowledge whenever possible. Overall, it was a very memorable and motivating experience that continues to inspire me.
