Band 7 Answer
My friend recently joined a marathon in our city, and it was a big surprise for me. He usually doesn’t take part in sports, so seeing him prepare for this race was unexpected. He trained for several weeks by running in the mornings and eating healthy food. On the race day, he was very nervous but also excited to try something new. The marathon was not easy for him, but he didn’t give up and completed the whole course. I felt proud and impressed because it showed his determination. He told me that during the run he felt very tired but the cheering crowd gave him energy. After finishing, he received a medal which made him really happy. He also made new friends who had the same interest in running. For me, the most inspiring part was that he did something challenging and healthy. It motivated me to think about doing an activity like this in the future.
Band 8 Answer
One remarkable activity my friend has done was participating in a charity marathon. He isn’t someone who is normally very athletic, so it was surprising when he decided to take part in such a demanding event. His main motivation was to raise money for a children’s hospital, which made the activity even more meaningful. To prepare, he followed a strict training schedule, running long distances every week and improving his diet. I admired his discipline and perseverance, especially because he had to balance this with his busy work life. On the race day, he looked both excited and nervous, but his determination was clear. The marathon was tough, and there were moments when he thought about stopping, yet he kept pushing forward. Eventually, he completed the course, which was a huge achievement for him. The moment he crossed the finish line, I felt genuinely inspired and motivated. What impressed me the most was not only his physical effort but also the fact that he was running for a noble cause. His participation raised awareness and funds for children in need, which made the activity impactful and memorable. This experience taught me that with the right mindset, anyone can go beyond their limits. It also reminded me that sometimes the purpose behind an activity is more important than the activity itself.
