Band 7 Answer
One time I helped someone was last year when a classmate of mine was struggling with English. She had difficulty understanding some grammar points, and her grades were dropping. Since I am quite good at English, I offered to help her.
I spent a few afternoons after school explaining the grammar rules and doing practice exercises with her. I also shared some useful websites and videos to help her learn more easily. She was very grateful and said that my help made a big difference.
I helped her because I believe that supporting each other is important, especially in learning. It felt good to see her improve and gain confidence. Helping someone not only benefits them but also makes me feel useful and happy.
Band 8 AnswerA memorable time when I helped someone was about six months ago when a neighbor of mine was recovering from surgery and needed assistance with daily tasks. She was an elderly lady living alone and couldn’t manage everything by herself.
I volunteered to help by running errands, such as grocery shopping, cooking meals, and occasionally cleaning her apartment. Additionally, I spent time chatting with her to keep her company and lift her spirits during recovery.
I chose to help her because I value community spirit and believe in looking out for those in need. The experience was deeply rewarding as I felt I made a positive impact on her life. It also strengthened our neighborly bond and reminded me of the importance of kindness and empathy.
