Band 7 Answer

A person from history that I really admire is Nelson Mandela. He was a South African leader who fought against apartheid, which was a system of racial segregation.

Mandela spent many years in prison because of his activism, but he never gave up on his goal of achieving equality and freedom for all people. After he was released, he became the first black president of South Africa and worked to unite the country.

I admire Mandela because of his courage, forgiveness, and commitment to justice. He showed the world that peaceful resistance and reconciliation are possible even after great suffering. His life has inspired many people to fight for human rights and equality.

Band 8 Answer

One historical figure I deeply admire is Marie Curie, the pioneering scientist who made groundbreaking contributions to physics and chemistry in the early 20th century.

Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and remains the only person to have won it in two different scientific fields—physics and chemistry. She discovered radioactive elements like polonium and radium, which opened new frontiers in science and medicine.

What I find most admirable about Marie Curie is her relentless dedication to research despite numerous obstacles, including gender bias and limited resources. Her discoveries have had a profound impact on cancer treatment and scientific understanding. She paved the way for women in science and continues to inspire generations of researchers worldwide.
